Abstract

CSR education in Hungary has seen great developments in recent years. The present chapter provides a detailed overview of this development by analysing the current state of CSR in Hungary, outlining the general public’s perception of CSR, the role of NGOs and the government, major themes and the application of international standards in the field. The questionnaire survey conducted focused on the effects of CSR education on the dimensions of CSR, on the behaviour as consumers and employees and on the overall perceived importance of CSR. Findings reveal that in the Hungarian context CSR education has an effect on behaviour and attitude towards CSR, mainly in the economic, legal and philanthropic dimensions, and it influences behaviour as a consumer. Furthermore, results also indicate that CSR education in Hungary strongly follows European trends as regards the integration of CSR themes into curricula and business ethics, environmental protection and sustainability as prevalent themes.
