Continental has implemented the first cross-domain High-Performance Computer (HPC) in a vehicle. The show car is capable of advanced functions such as automated parking. The HPC contains cockpit and vehicle functions developed by Continental. The software- defined vehicle uses the cloud-based Continental Automotive Edge Framework (CAEdge), a modular hardware and software platform. CAEdge connects the vehicle with the cloud and offers numerous possibilities for the development, provision, and maintenance of software-intensive system functions through a virtual workbench. The implementation utilized Qualcomm Technologies' Snapdragon Ride Flex System-on-Chip (SoC) with pre-integrated Snapdragon Ride Vision perception stack, which supports multi-modal critical workloads on a single chip. The HPC platform enables automated parking functions with holistic motion control, ultrasonic sensors, an integrated braking system and all-round vision cameras.
