Zusammenfassung

Die Möglichkeit, riesige Datenmengen zu sammeln, zu durchsuchen und neue Querbezüge herstellen zu können, wird von staatlichen Behörden genauso wie von Konzernen (Google, Facebook, Twitter u. v. a.) genutzt – u. a. um neue Informationen, Märkte, Bedürfnisse zu entdecken oder gar Entscheidungshilfen zu gewinnen oder Entwicklungen vorherzusagen zu können. Big Data ist aber nicht nur Medium der Prämediation, sondern auch der Massenüberwachung in der Demokratie – gegen das sich erstaunlicherweise wenig Protest formiert. Big Data scheint eher zu faszinieren. Warum es dabei um mehr geht, als das eigene Profil zu optimieren, zukünftige Matching-Optionen zu bedienen, in Kontakt zu bleiben oder den eigenen Gesundheitszustand zu überwachen, diskutiert der Beitrag.
