Opel has equipped the latest version of its Ampera-E electric car with a 60 kWh battery pack. According to the manufacturer, the driver now has a range of approximately 500 km as determined by the NEDC test cycle. The Lithium-ion batteries are integrated into the underbody. It was important for Opel that the batteries can use a range of charging possibilities: via household power sockets with 2.3 kW of power, a domestic wallbox with 4.6 kW, public AC charging systems via the in-car single phase charger with either 3.6 kW or 7.2 kW and also via dc-rapid charging stations with 50 kW of power. The electric motor in the e-vehicle provides 150 kW of power that can accelerate the car to 50 km/h within 3.2 s. The manufacturer promises a charging time of 30 min at 50 kW that will provide an additional 150 km of range to the batteries.
