The paper describes a controllable layer-by-layer (LBL) self-assembly modification technique of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) towards glass carbon electrode (GCE). Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) was immobilized directly to the modified GCE by LBL selfassembly method with the activity value of 0.01U. The biosensor showed good sensitivity and stability towards the monitoring of carbofuran pesticides in seawater with the detection limit of 10
