The Macroeconomy: 1

In the course of this book we will be examining a great many facets of the aggregate enonomy. Certain of these require detailed consideration, and hence have an entire chapter given over to their analysis. Others, however, require less detailed treatment, and it is our primary purpose in this and the subsequent chapters to bring them together at the earliest stage in the overall discussion. Although this necessarily means that these chapters are less cohesive than those which follow, they are essential pieces of the complete macroeconomic jigsaw puzzle. Indeed, one of the primary purposes of these chapters is to provide an overview of the entire jigsaw which must, of necessity, be put together in accordance with the picture on the lid. Unfortunately, as we shall soon dicover, the picture on the lid is out of focus, so we can never be entirely sure that each piece is in its proper place!
