Abstract

Supported metal oxides (CaO and MgO) mesoporous silica were synthesized using impregnation method. Curcumin uptake capacity by metal oxides (CaO and MgO) supported mesoporous silica were determined using batch method. The structural properties of these materials were investigated using several characterization techniques such as FTIR, XRD, SAXS, TEM, TGA, and UV-vis. UV-vis analysis shows that curcumin have higher uptake capacity for CaO than MgO/mesoporous silica. It also found that the hexagonal-SiO2-SBA-15 have the highest capacity for curcumin than other lamellar-SiO2 structures.
