Chapter Seven explores the intricate landscape of urban energy governance in Southeast Asia, highlighting the region’s diverse energy situations and their implications for urban governance. It delves into the concept of energy as a pivotal element in governance, examining governmentality and eco-governmentality in the context of the natural environment. The chapter outlines the institutional frameworks guiding urban energy policies and provides detailed analyses of electricity supply systems in key cities: Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, and Bangkok.
