Zusammenfassung

Die fortschreitende Verstädterung und der Klimawandel sind zwei der großen Herausforderungen der globalen Veränderungen des 21. Jahrhunderts. Beide Prozesse laufen parallel zueinander ab, sind stark miteinander verbunden und bringen eine Reihe von Veränderungen mit verschiedenen Auswirkungen mit sich. Sie stehen zudem im Zusammenhang mit weiteren Veränderungsprozessen wie beispielsweise dem Landnutzungswandel, dem demographischen und dem ökonomischen Wandel. Dieses Kapitel beschäftigt sich dezidiert mit den urbanen Herausforderungen zum Umgang mit dem Klimawandel und legt dabei einen Fokus auf Megastädte, deren speziellen Anpassungsbedarf sowie Lösungsansätze.
