Abstract

The Romanian Upper-Tisa Basin identifies itself, from a quantitative point of view, as a space with water resources in excess, due to its place one of the wettest areas of Romania. The aims of the present chapter are to analyse the hydrological regime, which allows the assessment of the water resources of the analysed area. In the first part of the study are presented some introductory elements related to: literature about the study of water resources, general information concerning the analysed territory, information on the monitoring hydrologic activity in the area of study, methods and sources of information that were used for the elaboration of the study. In the second part is presented a brief analysis of the natural conditions (geological, morphological, climatic, hydrographic and soil cover), which conditioning and influence the river runoff. In the third part, it is analysed the actual water resource, being mainly pursued the differences of river runoff, between the two slopes of the basin, one exposed to the east, and the other to the west. Among the various parameters, used to emphasize the resource of water in a territory have been analysed: the volume of average flow, the average drained layer, the average specific runoff, the coefficient of average river-flow. The fourth part is focused on the analysis of the way in which the population benefits of water resources in terms of the quantity and of the failures existing in the water supply systems. A flow layer composite raster structure was built, for comparing the surface natural resource with used by population water resource, and showing the areas where the amount of water available for the population is in deficit. The study ends with some conclusions related to the analysed subject and with the list of references.
