A mathematical model for simulating discontinuous flow is set up by solving one-dimensional equation of Saint-Venant based on the Finite Difference Method and the Weighted Essentially No-Oscillatory scheme, by which the process of flood wave caused by sudden opening of a sluice is simulated. Comparing of the analytical solutions and numerical solutions, the result shows that the proposed model can effectively simulate discontinuous flow.
