Zusammenfassung

In diesem Kapitel wird erläutert, warum die Stärkung der Zusammenarbeit zwischen Wissenschaftlern und Diplomaten/Politikern in den kommenden Jahren das wichtigste Thema ist. Die Wissenschaftsdiplomatie hat ein enormes Potenzial als „Soft-Power-Instrument“ für die Vorbeugende Diplomatie und Konfliktlösung. Sie könnte dazu beitragen, Brücken zu bauen, wo die formelle Diplomatie versagt hat. In diesem Sinne ist sie eine attraktive Option für außenpolitische Strategien der gesamten internationalen Gemeinschaft. Die Europäische Union kann ihr Potenzial nutzen, um ihre normative Macht auf der internationalen Bühne zu konsolidieren und gleichzeitig ihre Stärke in Forschung und Entwicklung einzusetzen, um den Ländern zu helfen, ihre nachhaltigen Ziele zu erreichen. Wenn die Wissenschaft in der innenpolitischen Beratung und in den Außenbeziehungen richtig kanalisiert wird, könnte ihre transformative Kraft zu einer Welt des besseren Verständnisses, des Respekts und des kollektiven Wohlstands führen. Letztendlich sind wir alle die größten Gewinner des Fortschritts in der Wissenschaftsdiplomatie, sowohl in der Zukunft als auch in der Gegenwart.
