In mico and nano technology, in situ actuation of small particles is an interesting problem. The micro-cantilever fabricated in mechanical vibrators or oscillators has a potential to effect particles through interaction force. The concept of manipulation is including the capture, release, and transport of particles under the practical circumstance: in air and liquid. These technologies are inevitable for the recent development of biotechnology. The systematic approach can reach to the achievement of actuation of particles. In this paper, the theoretical consideration for the manipulation of particles is discussed from the standpoint of nonlinear dynamics. In particular, the possibility of particle manipulation is formulated based on Hamiltonian in the classical mechanics. The control directly links to the treatment of the resonance and the dissipation of the system. Moreover, the particle actuation is also proposed with the use of intrinsic localized mode (ILM) in MEMS.
