Abstract
The genus Dunaliella of the order Volvocales includes a variety of ill-defined species of unicellular green microscopic algae (Butcher, 1959). Members of the genus Dunaliella are generally ovoid in shape, 4-15μm wide and 10-25μm long. The cells are motile, due to the presence of two equal long flagellae in each cell, and contain one large cup-shaped chloroplast which occupies about half of the cell volume. The chloroplast contains a large pyrenoid surrounded by polysaccharide granules, the storage product.
