ABSTRACT
Interpreting surroundings through the senses often relies on visual channels for a full interpretation of the environment. Our approach substitutes this use of vision by integrating haptic feedback with the sensory data from the depth camera system packaged within the Microsoft Kinect.

Wearable head-mounted 3D tactile display application scenarios
MobileHCI '16: Proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices and Services AdjunctCurrent generation virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) usually include no or only a single vibration motor for haptic feedback and do not use it for guidance. In a previous work, we presented HapticHead, a ...
A meta-analysis of recent studies on haptic feedback enhancement in immersive-augmented reality
ICVR 2018: Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Virtual RealityIn this study, we address a research direction on haptic feedback-driven object presence in immersive Augmented Reality (AR). We reviewed 30 current studies in regard of sensory feedback in domain of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Virtuality (AV), AR ...
A first person avatar system with haptic feedback
VRST '10: Proceedings of the 17th ACM Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and TechnologyWe describe a system that shows how to substitute a person's body in virtual reality by a virtual body (or avatar). The avatar is seen from a first person perspective, moves as the person moves and the system generates touch on the real person's body ...
