Abstract

It is a pleasure to welcome all the participants to the Sixth ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking and Computing, MobiHoc 2005. This is the second time that the symposium is being held on a university campus, which besides the pastoral experience also provides more for the money. An innovation for this year was to feature two parallel tracks for the contributed sessions, which allowed us to increase the papers presented from twenty-four last year to forty this year. It also allowed us to have a two-hour Panel Discussion on a topic of much current importance, "'Openness' and the Public Airwaves," organized by Sascha Meinrath, with Panelists Victor Bahl, Kenneth Carter, Mark Cooper, Ben Scott and Matt Westervelt, as well as a Keynote Talk, "Toward the Sensor Network Macroscope," by David Culler.
