Zusammenfassung

Das einleitende Kapitel geht zunächst der Frage nach, weshalb Netzwerke in der jüngeren Zeit zu einem solch populären Thema geworden sind, und grenzt Unternehmensnetzwerke von anderen Netzwerkarten ab. Aus konzeptioneller Sicht werden Unternehmensnetzwerke ihrerseits differenziert in Netzwerkstrukturen innerhalb der Grenzen eines Unternehmens (intraorganisationale Netzwerke) und Netzwerke zwischen Unternehmen (interorganisationale Unternehmensnetzwerke). Ausführlich werden die Unterschiede diskutiert, die sich zwischen der Behandlung von Netzwerkthemen in der Managementliteratur einerseits und wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnissen und Veröffentlichungen andererseits ergeben. Während für zahlreiche managementorientierte Veröffentlichung ein fast schon enthusiastischer Umgang mit den Themen „Netzwerke“ und „Vernetzung“ festgestellt werden kann, insbesondere was den Grad der Vernetzung betrifft, liegen sehr viel differenziertere wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse vor, aus denen sich jedoch vielfältige Erkenntnisse auch für den unternehmenspraktischen Umgang mit Unternehmensnetzwerken ableiten lassen. Schließlich werden die Zielsetzungen sowie der inhaltliche Aufbau des Buchs vorgestellt.
