Zusammenfassung

Das zweite Kapitel beinhaltet eine Darstellung theoretischer und methodischer Grundlagen zu intra- und interorganisationalen Unternehmensnetzwerken. Neben einer Diskussion der konzeptionellen Grundlagen von Unternehmensnetzwerken (2.1) wird in Abschn. 2.2 der Frage nachgegangen, welche Nutzenformen mit Beziehungen in und zwischen Unternehmen einhergehen können und welche Arten von Kosten im Rahmen des Aufbaus und Unterhalts solcher Beziehungen entstehen. Dies führt im Weiteren zu einer Beurteilung von Netzwerkstrukturen unter simultaner Berücksichtigung von Nutzen und Kosten (Kap. 2.3). Ferner werden in Abschn. 2.4 Möglichkeiten und Ansätze zur Gestaltung von Netzwerkstrukturen diskutiert und anschließend methodische Ansätze zur Untersuchung von Unternehmensnetzwerken vorgestellt (Kap. 2.5). Im letzten Abschn. 2.6 dieses Kapitels erfolgt eine grundlegende Darstellung der in den Fallstudien angewendeten Methoden der Netzwerkanalyse, wobei sowohl grafische als auch analytisch-statistische Verfahren vorgestellt werden.

Ergänzend ist an dieser Stelle anzumerken, dass in einigen Studien das Augenmerk nicht primär auf tatsächlich existierende Freundschaftsbeziehungen gerichtet ist, bei dem die beiden Partner in ihrer Beurteilung der Freundschaft übereinstimmen. Stattdessen wird die Wahrnehmung von Freundschaft im Sinne eines „Friendship Seeking“ untersucht, bei dem es sich typischerweise um gerichtete Beziehungen handelt (Rank und Tuschke 2010; Lazega und Pattison 1999).

Granovetter definiert als vierte Dimension der Beziehungsstärke die Wechselseitigkeit der Beiträge beider Beziehungspartner. Allerdings betrachtet er in seiner Arbeit lediglich ungerichtete (also symmetrische) Beziehungen. Bei gerichteten Beziehungen stellt die Wechselseitigkeit (Reziprozität) ein strukturelles Charakteristikum dar, welches nicht notwendigerweise Einfluss auf die Stärke der Beziehung hat.

Darüber hinaus existieren durchaus weitere Beziehungsarten, die aber für die Zwecke dieses Buchs von nachrangiger Bedeutung sind (Wasserman und Faust 1994; Jansen 2006).

Eine Vollerhebung ist im Fall von Wahlen natürlich auch deshalb nicht sinnvoll, weil dadurch die Wahl selbst vorweggenommen würde.
