In the light of the transformation taking place in the mobility and transport sector, even long-established companies such as the engine manufacturer Deutz are having to adjust to new circumstances and modify their strategies accordingly. The company based in Cologne (Germany) has plans to supply the entire spectrum of carbon-neutral powertrains. In this Interview Markus Müller, Chief Technology Officer of Deutz, explains what form the transformation will take and which technologies will allow the company to achieve its objectives.
Dr.-Ing. Markus Müller (born 1980) began studying mechanical engineering at the RFH University of Applied Sciences in Cologne in 2003. He completed a master's degree in engineering there in 2008 and in 2011 obtained a doctorate in engineering from the University of Rostock. During his studies (from 2006 to 2011), Müller was already working as a pre-development engineer for exhaust aftertreatment systems at Deutz in Cologne. In 2012, he was appointed head of the Certification and Classification department and in 2013 he took on responsibility for the application engineering, before moving to become head of Research and Development Systems Integration in 2014. Müller left Deutz in 2016 to join HJS Emission Technology in Menden (Germany), where he was a member of the management team. In 2018, he returned to Deutz and took on the role of Senior VicePresident for Development and Technical Customer Support. Since March 2021, he is a member of the Board of Management and responsible for Research and Devolopment.
