4. Vier Fallstudien zu interorganisationalen Unternehmensnetzwerken

Zusammenfassung

In Kap. 4 erfolgt eine Behandlung von vier Fallstudien zu interorganisationalen Unternehmensnetzwerken. Die erste Studie (4.1) untersucht, wie die informelle und unternehmensübergreifende Vernetzung der Führungskräfte von Biotechnologieunternehmen nicht nur zum Erfolg, sondern sogar zum langfristigen Fortbestand ihrer Unternehmen beitragen kann. Im zweiten Fall in Abschn. 4.2 wird der Frage nachgegangen, welche Bedeutung einer unternehmerischen Einstellung bestehend aus Risikobereitschaft, Proaktivität und Innovationsneigung mit Blick auf das Erreichen günstiger Positionen in den Kooperationsnetzwerken mit externen Partnern zukommt. Der dritte Fall (4.3) analysiert den Zusammenhang zwischen Netzwerkbeziehungen auf verschiedenen Ebenen. Dabei wird untersucht, inwiefern unternehmensübergreifende persönliche Beziehungen zwischen Managern von Hightechunternehmen den Aufbau strategischer Allianzen fördern. Dem letzten Fall im Abschn. 4.4 kommt gewissermaßen eine gesamtwirtschaftliche Bedeutung zu. Hierin wird untersucht, welche strukturellen Grundmuster sogenannte Governance-Netzwerke aufweisen, die aus der Entsendung von Führungskräften in die Aufsichtsräte anderer Unternehmen entstehen, und von welchen Determinanten die Berufung von Managern in Aufsichtsräte abhängt.

Grundlegend besagt das Prinzip der Homophilie, dass Akteure, die sich aufgrund ihrer Eigenschaften oder Einstellungen ähnlich sind, eine höhere Wahrscheinlichkeit haben, über Beziehungen miteinander verbunden zu sein als unähnliche Akteure.

Exakt verfügten die 80 Unternehmen im Jahr 2007, in dem die Daten erhoben wurden, über 859 Führungskräfte bestehend aus Vorstands- und Aufsichtsratsmitgliedern. Aufgrund fehlender Daten konnten allerdings 21 Führungskräfte nicht in die Analysen integrierte werden.

Andere Eigenschaften, die in internationalen Studien häufig Berücksichtigung finden, konnten aufgrund der sehr geringen Fallzahlen im deutschen System nicht in die statistischen Modelle integriert werden. Hierzu zählen beispielsweise Geschlecht, ethnische Herkunft und nationale Zugehörigkeit.

Hierbei ist allerdings nochmals anzumerken, dass nur Mandate der 80 im DAX und M-DAX gelisteten Unternehmen erfasst wurden. Nicht berücksichtigt wurden hingegen Aufsichtsratsmandate in Kapitalgesellschaften, die nicht in diesen beiden Aktienindizes erfasst werden sowie konzerninterne Mandate.
