Abstract
The previous chapter discussed duplicating from an RMAN backup. This chapter walks you through duplicating directly from an open target database. This is referred to as active duplication because the source is a live database. You don’t need an RMAN backup when using active duplication. Rather, RMAN uses the live data files and control files as the source when copying the target (source) to the auxiliary (destination).
