An Analytical Study of Physicochemical Characteristics of Groundwater in Agra Region

Abstract

The Physicochemical parameters were studied for groundwater samples collected from different places in Agra region. The main purpose of this study was to find the quality of water for drinking, irrigation, and domestic purpose from selected location. There are seven locations where groundwater samples were collected and examined in Agra region. The present investigation is focused on the determination of physicochemical parameters such as temperature, turbidity, pH, total hardness, alkalinity, total dissolved solids, chlorides, fluoride, dissolved oxygen, calcium hardness, magnesium hardness, and selected heavy metals (Fe, Cr, Cd, and Pb). Most of the parameters were found within permissible limits of above standards. All these water samples have very low concentration of Pb and Cr. The concentration of Cd and Fe was observed higher than the permissible limit of WHO and BIS. In the light of analysis, we can conclude that all these water samples require some treatment before their use for drinking purpose.
