Zusammenfassung

Big Data besitzen ein großes Potenzial für Unternehmen, Vorteile im Wettbewerb aufzubauen. Sie können zu besseren Entscheiden, zu mehr Effizienz oder zu Innovationen führen. Doch fällt es vielen Unternehmen schwer, Big Data tatsächlich in Werte zu transferieren. Der Beitrag kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass Unternehmen zunächst interne Veränderungen vornehmen müssen, um dies zu ermöglichen. Big Data ist mit besonderen Charakteristika verbunden. Um diese Charakteristika in Wettbewerbsvorteile zu transferieren, braucht es einerseits eine Kombination aus technischem und Management-Wissen. Andererseits erfordert dies eine Daten-dominante Logik, die sich von der bisherigen Produkte- oder Service-dominanten Logik in Unternehmen unterscheidet. Die Diskussion des Beitrags baut auf Erkenntnissen zu Big Data in einem strategischen Kontext und zur Ressourcen- und Fähigkeitsbasierten Sichtweise in Unternehmen (RBV, CBV) auf.
