New technologies have lead to a better quality of life and a rise in life expectancy. The elderly face a number of needs and problems which must be resolved in order to maintain such quality of life. Some of these problems are related to muscle weakness, a lack of accuracy in sensory information or loss of equilibrium. These become a major issue at elder age making the elderly become dependent and susceptible to home accidents. The aim of this research is to increase the security, confidence and independence of the elderly as well as their relatives. To achieve such objective, this research proposes using a network of multiple Kinect sensors installed in different areas of a house monitoring the individual with the ability to interact with the person by voice or video, if required. The Kinect sensors analyze the everyday life and routines of the person. This analysis allows the individual to be traced, and means an automatic detection of risks in real time, decreasing the response time required in the event of a health emergency.
