The 6.2-litre V8 is based on the engine from the Z06 and delivers 563 kW (765 hp) with a torque of 969 newton metres. The LT5 eight-cylinder engine with supercharger has extra power mainly due to optimised fuel injection and a new intercooled supercharger system. An eight-speed (paddle-shift) automatic transmission is available in the ZR1 for the first time together with a conventional manual seven-speed transmission as an alternative.
Enlarged air intakes are designed to supply more air to the supercharger and powertrain. The carbon-fibre bonnet has special openings to vent the exhaust heat, and a new spoiler should provide more downforce. Topping 340 km/h, the ZR1 is the fastest Corvette to date according to Chevrolet and comes with two aero packages: the standard rear wing is designed for maximum speeds, while the larger, adjustable wing comes as part of the ZTK Performance Package and is conceived for fast lap times. Six-piston callipers at the front and four-piston callipers at the rear grip carbon ceramic brakes. Tipping the scales at 1,598 kilograms, the Corvette ZR1 goes on sale in the USA from the spring of 2018.
