Two orders for 150 mm SiC wafers: Infineon Technologies has announced new supply agreements with SK Siltron CSS and Wolfspeed.

The partnership between Infineon and Wolfspeed has been in place since 2018. The extension of the supply agreement for 150 mm silicon carbide wafers includes a multi-year Capacity Reservation Agreement (CRA) and is intended to strengthen the resilience of Infineon's supply chain. Previously, Infineon had signed a new supply agreement with SiC supplier SK Siltron CSS. SK Siltron CSS will also supply Infineon with 150-millimeter SiC wafers as part of the agreement.

"As demand for silicon carbide devices continues to grow, we are pursuing a multi-source strategy to secure access to a high-quality, global and long-term supply base for 150mm and 200mm SiC wafers", said Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of Infineon Technologies. Wolfspeed is a leading global manufacturer of silicon carbide technology. "According to industry estimates, the demand for silicon carbide devices and related material will increase significantly by 2030, representing an annual potential of 20 billion US dollars", forecasts Gregg Lowe, President and CEO of Wolfspeed.
