Stellantis intends to significantly expand its commitment in South America. The investment volume of almost 6 billion euros is the largest in the history of the automotive industry there.

Stellantis, market leader in the three most important markets in South America, Brazil, Argentina and Chile, is planning record investments of EUR 5.6 billion between 2025 and 2030. The planned investments will be used for the market launch of more than 40 new products, including bio-hybrid technology. In addition, decarbonization technology is to be developed for the entire vehicle supply chain. "As a critical part of our 'third engine' growth strategy, South America will take a leading role in accelerating the decarbonization of mobility together with our employees, our supply chain network and our partners", says Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares.

To this end, Stellantis is developing bio-hybrid technologies for the South American market at its plant in Betim (Brazil). These are intended to combine electrification and hybrid technology with three drive systems designed for biofuel (ethanol). The flexible bio-hybrid technology can be integrated into various models and is compatible with all of the company's production lines in the region. They will be combined with dual-clutch transmissions (eDCT) and will be used in bio-hybrid plug-in vehicles and BEVs. The new hybrid technology should be available from the end of 2024. A BEV is also to be produced in the region in the future.
