Dieter Zetsche will resign his position as Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler in 2019 and is to become Chairman of its Supervisory Board in 2021. Ola Källenius will be his successor.

Daimler has announced that Dieter Zetsche will succeed Manfred Bischoff on the Supervisory Board. Bischoff will step down as Daimler's Chairman of the Supervisory Board in 2021. Bischoff's regular term as Chairman of the Supervisory Board will then expire at the end of the Annual Shareholders' Meeting. At that meeting, the Supervisory Board intends then to propose Dieter Zetsche as his successor. Bischoff will recommend the election of Zetsche, Daimler has announced. Daimler's board member Ola Källenius, responsible for Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development, is to succeed Zetsche in 2019. Daimler argues that, in view of the impending fundamental change in the automotive industry, the company would like to prepare for a suitable successor for Bischoff at an early stage.

In order to comply with the two-year cooling-off period, Dieter Zetsche will step down from his position on the Board of Management of Daimler AG and as Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars at the end of the Annual Shareholders' Meeting in 2019. As a result, the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG decided at its meeting to appoint Ola Källenius as Chairman of the Board of Management and to transfer the management of the Mercedes-Benz Cars division to him for a new term of five years.

As the successor to Ola Källenius, Markus Schäfer will be responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development on the Board of Management of Daimler AG, according to a resolution passed by the Supervisory Board.
