Through its start-up subsidiary, InMotion Ventures, Jaguar Land Rover is investing in Lyft in order to collaborate on mobility services. As part of the deal, JLR is to provide a fleet of vehicles for Lyft users.

InMotion, Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) mobility services business, has announced a US$25m investment in rideshare provider Lyft. The investment should support Lyft’s expansion and technology plans.

It will also provide InMotion Ventures with the opportunity to develop and test its mobility services, including autonomous vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover explains. In addition, Lyft users are to have access to a fleet of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.

The JLR subsidiary, InMotion, has only recently made a seed investment in SPLT. The Detroit-based digital carpooling company, which collaborates with Lyft, provides non-emergency medical transportation.
