BorgWarner has been awarded a contract from a globally acting company for powertrain technology to supply battery packs for a series of electric buses. Over four years, the company will deliver batteries for around 2900 e-buses to an electric bus manufacturer based in Georgia (USA). The 98 kWh packs feature active cooling and an energy density of 274 and 177 Wh/kg and fulfil the safety standards for electric vehicle batteries that include requirements for the prevention of overload and cell-level passive fire propagation resistance and electrical isolation of the individual cell bonds. …
