Thermal fatigue phenomenon is an important subject in the life-time management of piping components of nuclear power plants. Especially in T-joints, high frequent temperature fluctuations as a result of mixing of the hot and cold fluids may cause material degradation and thus affect the component fatigue life. The European research project THERFAT was initiated to study the significance of thermal fatigue issues and to improve analysis tools for structural integrity assessments under thermal fatigue conditions, Metzner
