A computer aided simulation method based on the upper bound theory has been newly developed in order to investigate into non-axisymmetric extrusion and drawing of tubular products with required cross-sections. By this method, the power requirement, the extrusion pressure or the drawing stress, the optimum die dimension, the optimum working condition and the final dimension of product have been successfully calculated regarding extrusion and drawing of tubes having square and rectangular cross-sections with round inner holes. By comparing the calculated results with the experimental measurements, it has become clear that this simulation method can give us useful prediction of the final dimension of product and moreover, it gives us an effective measure of design of the optimum pass-schedule and the optimum die dimension for the required products.
