Abstract

From the perspective of the Han-Tibetan cultural exchange, the social and historical backgrounds of the fine collections of Tibetan porcelain produced by Jingdezhen official kiln in the Ming and Qing dynasties integrating the elements of Han-Tibetan cultures are reviewed. The artistic design characteristics of the modeling and color of Tibetan porcelain are analyzed to appreciate the endowment of Tibetan porcelain to the thoughts of Tibetan Buddhism. Through field investigation, consultation of literature, and comparison of real pictures taken, it is concluded in the study that the “Combination of Sanskrit and Han styles” was the main feature of the Tibetan porcelain produced by Jingdezhen official kiln in the Ming and Qing dynasties. It presented a strong religious theme and artistic aesthetic characteristics of deification, forming a unique Sanskrit art style of Tibetan porcelain.
