Abstract: Low-cement castables have become standard products in the portfolio of most of the refractory monolithics producers. These castables, when properly installed, show outstanding performances in service. However, contrary to the shaped refractory products, final performances of castables show a strong dependency on installation properties. Imerys has initiated the development of a range of active compounds for the refractory industry under the name Refpac to provide predictable and reliable installation properties for castables.
