Zusammenfassung

Ein letztes Bild der Wissenschaft als Kritik, das die Ontologie vor die Epistemologie stellt, wird dem mythischen Bild der Wissenschaft gegenübergestellt, das der soziale Konstruktivismus geschaffen hat. Der Wert des sozialen Konstruktivismus liegt in seiner kritischen Stoßrichtung und seiner Fähigkeit, Wissen und damit verbundene Behauptungen infrage zu stellen. Eines der Merkmale des mythischen Bildes der Wissenschaft ist jedoch das Erfordernis der Messung, um als Wissenschaft betrachtet zu werden, und es wird argumentiert, dass Quantifizierung und Messung nicht die definierenden Merkmale der Wissenschaft sein können. Das Kapitel wird mit drei Beispielen dafür abgeschlossen, was als Wissenschaft der Psychologie angesehen werden kann.
