Abstract

The purpose of this research are to investigate the deposition behavior of different sized nanoparticle using pulse DC in EPD and to study the effect of particle size reduction on crack formation of TiO2 deposited layer. EPD is one of the electrokinetics phenomenons acted as the motion of charged particles in a liquid medium under the influence of an electric field and the deposition on the surface of a substrate with an opposite charge (Naim et al. in Colloids Surf A 360:13–19, 2010 [1]). EPD can be prepared in aqueous or non-aqueous solutions. Four different sizes of TiO2 nanoparticle suspension were used in order to observe the effect of particles size on deposition. The zeta potential was measured with Zetasizer-NanoSeries, Malvern. Increasing the suspensions concentration influence the zeta potential values to change as well. The deposited layer upon drying was observed by FESEM.
