Abstract

The scheme of polarization filter based on photonic crystal fiber with Au-coated air holes is proposed by using the finite element method. The air holes of the PCF are arranged in hexagonal lattice. The properties of the filter can be optimized by changing the parameters of air holes and the thickness of gold layer. Numerical simulation results show that the resonance strength of y-polarization can be up to \(823.7\,\hbox {dB\,cm}^{-1}\) which is stronger than that of x-polarization at the communication wavelength of \(1.55\,\upmu \hbox {m}\).
