For many years now, dummy heads have played an important role in studies on NVH. As the number of physical prototypes has been decreasing over time, the next step within certain simulation scenarios is towards the use of virtual dummy heads. Validating the finite element model of a dummy head involves the application of measurement-based, head-related transfer functions for the horizontal plane up to an upper frequency limit of 8 kHz. This enables a realistic consideration of diffraction effects and the acoustic influence of the dummy head on its surroundings. …
