1. Die Unternehmensethik funktioniert nicht

Zusammenfassung

Unternehmensethik und Ansätze für bessere und vor allem ethischere Formen der Führung sind seit vielen Jahren ein Thema von wachsendem Interesse. Nach einer Vielzahl von Skandalen, bspw. der Internetblase von 1997 (Stichwort „Neuer Markt“), der ENRON-Krise von 2001, mit manipulierten Bilanzen und der verlorenen Hoffnung auf die „New Economy“, der Banken- und Finanzkrise von 2008 haben viele Marktteilnehmer gedacht, dass es nur noch besser werden könnte. Doch eine Vielzahl weiterer Krisen, gipfelnd im „Abgas-Skandal“ führender KfZ-Hersteller bis zu Wirecard, weisen auf das Gegenteil hin. Während Unternehmensethik und CSR zu beliebten Themen in den Medien wurden, änderte sich in den wenigsten Unternehmen grundlegendes. Dies liegt zum einen auf dem Fokus auf Regulierung und Prozesse, während der Faktor Führung vollkommen übersehen wird. Der Vormarsch von CSR vermag daher noch wenig zu bewirken, Fortschritte erscheinen mühsam in der Umsetzung. Immerhin ist spürbar, dass die Einhaltung unternehmensethischer Grundsätze heute ein immer wichtiger werdendes Kriterium für die Auftragsvergabe darstellt. Führungsverhalten, Führungskultur und Führungsklima scheinen häufig übersehene Faktoren zu sein, die hier einen grundlegenden Unterschied machen können. Das Kapitel beschreibt den Aufbau des Buches, und wie sich diese Studie dem Thema nähert.
