Abstract

A periodic solution to the problem of dynamics of a gas in a closed pipe under piston oscillations according to the harmonic law was obtained as a result of solving the linearized two-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations in the cylindrical coordinate system. The dependences of the resonance frequencies on the pipe diameter are given. The question of the maximum amplitude of the longitudinal velocity of oscillations of a viscous polytropic gas at the first resonance frequency is studied. The obtained dependences are compared with known results for a plane resonator. It is shown that the maximum longitudinal velocity is approximately two times greater in the plane resonator than in a pipe with the diameter equal to the plane resonator width.
