Effect of the Stir Rotation Speed on the Microstructure and Properties of Super304H/T92 Friction Weld Joints

Abstract

The impact of the rotation speed on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Super304H/T92 friction weld joints was studied. The properties of weld joints are shown to be adequate, with their strength and impact toughness meeting the requirements. With an increase in the rotation speed (1200–1800 rpm), the heat and number of precipitated carbide phases in the heat-affected zone of the weld joints increase, impact toughness decreases, microhardness grows, and tensile strength remains unchanged.
