Zusammenfassung

Die ursprünglichen idealistischen Ziele des frühen Internets haben sich offensichtlich nicht wirklich realisiert. Die Freiheit des Zugangs zu Informationen wird mittlerweile von vielen Seiten eingeschränkt und kontrolliert. Darüber hinaus ist die zugrunde liegende Technologie ein Kritikpunkt und auch ein Sicherheitsrisiko, da es oft schwierig oder gar unmöglich ist, im Internet ohne Preisgabe persönlicher Daten zu agieren. Zudem wird allmählich auch erkannt, dass nicht jeder Inhalt kostenlos sein kann. Die Produktion hochwertiger Inhalte erfordert eine Bezahlung für den Aufwand und die Arbeit, die darin stecken. Aus diesem Grund wird seit Beginn der 2020er Jahre an der Entwicklung eines dezentralen Internets gearbeitet, das auf dem Gedanken des Eigentums basiert und das das interaktive Web 2.0 ablösen soll. Diese Entwicklung wird von neuen technologischen Ansätzen wie der Blockchain, Smart Contracts und NFTs begleitet und soll die Grundlage für das Metaversum bilden.
