The powertrain and sustainable fuels community will meet at the International Engine Congress. Be there from 27 to 28 February 2024 in Baden-Baden (Germany). Participation is also possible virtually via live stream. Register now!

At the 11th International Engine Congress 2024 organized by ATZlive and VDI Wissensforum, experts in engine development and fuel specialists from all over the world will meet to shed light on the future role of the combustion engine and its non-fossil fuels from a global perspective. The congress takes a practice-orientated approach to the entire system of engine technology: from energy generation to energy storage and energy conversion.

You can look forward to keynotes by Prof. Dr. Uwe Dieter Grebe (AVL List), Takahiro Nagai (National Research and Development Agency/New Energy and Industrial Technology Development
Organization), Dr. Monika Griefahn (eFuel Alliance), Thorsten Herdan (HIF EMEA) on the first day of the congress as well as Prof. Dr. Peter Schöggl (AVL List), Benoit Poulet (Shell Global Solutions), Dina Bacovsky (BEST – Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies) and Michael Fleiss (Aurobay) on the second day. A panel discussion on the topic “ No climate protection without IC engines!” will round off the congress.

Key topics of the International Engine Congress 2024 are:

  • carbon-neutral IC engines from a global perspective
  • CO2 recycling as a key topic for refuels
  • further development potentials for the IC engine
  • hydrogen and other sustainable energy sources
  • legal and technological differences in the markets.

Three Thematic Pillars

The International Engine Congress is based on three thematic pillars: namely the parallel sessions “passenger car engine technology”, “commercial vehicle engine technology” and “sustainable fuels & energy”. By bringing together passenger car and commercial vehicle engine developers as well as fuel experts, the exchange of experience is to be promoted both nationally and internationally within the multi-track congress.

The event is primarily aimed at engineers and technicians in the industry or persons involved in research and teaching who are engaged in the optimization of the traditional development areas of the combustion engine or the advancement of procedures and systems to produce conventional or renewable fuels and lubricants. The lectures will be equally attractive for chemists and biologists who work in this industry. The focus will be on both diesel and spark-ignition engines (gasoline/gas) for passenger and commercial vehicles and off-highway applications.
