Abstract

In recent years, there has been a renewed interest in criminal justice reform. Movements such as the #cut50 campaign, a bipartisan effort to reduce the prison population by 50 % in 10 years, demonstrates how much things have changed from the “tough on crime” rhetoric which dominated much of the 1980’s. Philanthropy has historically and will continue to play a large role in the reform movement. As this paper suggests, however, if the current momentum is to continue, there must be a push towards a “collective impact,” collaborative approach in the field of prisoner reentry.
