The automotive industry is facing considerable disruptive changes. What kind of mobility concepts will be needed to continue meeting the requirements of conurbations and in terms of area in the future? How will the energy chain have to be configured to ensure future mobility with a sustainable ecological footprint? The catalysts driving future mobility include climate change, urbanization, digitization and automation. Battery-electric drives will be an integral part of tomorrow's powertrain mix. At the same time, hybrid concepts are also important to guarantee comprehensive mobility. A fleet mix of 30 % all-electric, 40 % hybrid and 30 % conventionally powered vehicles in 2030, as predicted by Schaeffler for example, is both possible and sensible.
