The design and development of highly efficient and selective methods for the synthesis of alkenylsilanes, based on alkyne hydrosilylation, have been the subjects of extensive study, because of their versatile application in organic synthesis and material science. This chapter describes recent progress in the development of new alkyne hydrosilylation protocols as well as related processes employing hydrosilanes and alkyne derivatives leading to acyclic and cyclic alkenylsilanes, taking into consideration their regio- and stereoselective modes. Synthetic and mechanistic aspects of transition metal- and Lewis acid-catalysed as well as radical-initiated hydrosilylation of both terminal and internal alkynes and their functionalised derivatives proceeding

via

inter- or intramolecular fashion are discussed.
