Abstract

Titanium is frequently used as a grain refiner in twin roll aluminum casting with its nucleation mechanism in aluminum. Grain refinement performance, casting temperature, line speed, composition ratios of the grain refiner, additive amounts, kinetic factors, etc. vary depending on the parameters. In this study, the nucleation behavior between standard AlTi5B1 rods and in-situ nucleants was investigated. In this study, 1050 and 3003 alloy compositions were used because of seeing the behaviour of surface, physical, and electrical properties. In the experimental studies, Reduced Pressure Test (RPT) analysis, microstructure measurements, and changes in mechanical properties were investigated. Experimental studies were examined according to changing time, titanium amount, and casting temperature. The surface structure of the products after mechanical deformation was compared with the visuals. After the relevant trials, comparisons of the standard modifiers and the in-situ modifiers were done.
