Jon Cruddas’ book commemorates a hundred years since the first Labour government took office in January 1924. He has been a Labour MP since 2001 but has announced his intention to stand down at the next election. He is currently also a Visiting Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, and Visiting Professor at the University of Leicester, specializing in employment studies. He has a long connection with the Labour party. From 1989, he worked for the party headquarters, before becoming Deputy Political Secretary to Tony Blair when he entered government in 1997. His main role was liaising with trade unions, and he worked on the introduction of the minimum wage in 1999. He later became very critical of the Blairite government. …
