The demands for quality in automotive manufacturing continue to increase while the profitability pressures remain the same. This development also applies to the leak-tightness requirements and the test methods being used. Traditional methods are no longer reliable enough. Alternatives such as the vacuum leak test with helium are very expensive and, depending on the requirement, are also too sensitive by a factor of 1000.
