Abstract

The possibility of measuring carbon content in iron–carbon alloy by an eddy current method is demonstrated. Theoretical preconditions are considered and an instrument structural layout are provided. Studies are carried out on specimens melted from pure components, and also on specimens consisting of commercially pure iron alloy with carbon in a quenched condition. Calculations are provided for measurement error.
